Supporters of the Isaiah 117 House in Lebanon set up lemonade stands across Russell and Dickenson counties earlier this month to help raise money for the organization.
The annual event started eight years ago in Carter County, Tennessee when a group of children took it upon themselves to raise money for the Isaiah 117 House in their area.
Since that time, the idea has spread throughout the areas with an Isaiah 117 House. The July 19 event was the third to be held for the Lebanon location.
“All in all it was a huge success,” stated Isaiah 117 House Expansion Coordinator Acacia Nunley. “We reached 1,500 people. We raised $19,000, which is crazy.”
Nunley said there were 37 stands in Russell and Dickenson counties. That is an increase from last year, which had 25 stands.
While the cause was very serious, there was also a lot of fun to be had as the stands competed in various categories.
The most cups sold award went to the Lemonade Gang. That stand sold 447 cups of lemonade.
ClearSight EyeCare won the award for best receptacle for donations.
Best lemonade went to Lucy’s Lemonade of the Lemonade Gang.
There was a tie for most creative stand. That award was shared by Constance and Corie Yates and Mills Chapel Church.
The most money raised was earned by Laska Kate. Laska Kate brought in $5,185.
A ribbon cutting ceremony has been scheduled for Aug. 2 to celebrate the opening of the Isaiah 117 House.
The ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., will officially open the Lebanon facility and will feature several local speakers and Isaiah 117 House officials.
Isaiah 117 House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement.
