The Virginia High School League moved one step closer to finalizing its alignment plan for the 2027-28 through 2030-31 cycle.
Lebanon, which the VHSL moved to Class 1 earlier but left in the Southwest District with Class 2 schools, appealed to be placed in the Hogoheegee District. That move was approved by a 5-0 vote.
Marion’s appeal to move from the Class 2 Southwest District to the Class 1 Hogoheegee District was denied by a 3-2 vote.
Marion will appeal its placement.
The VHSL’s alignment committee made its recommendations after a meeting on Aug. 25.
Final appeals will be heard Sept. 8, while the Executive Committee will make it official on Sept. 23.
