David Boyd is among the five candidates seeking one of three seats on the Lebanon Town Council.

A graduate of Lebanon High School in 1984, Boyd moved away from the area for a while before returning to Lebanon in 2001.

“My wife, April, and I have been married for 33 years, and we love living in town,” he said.

“I have served on the Town of Lebanon Planning Commission for three and a half years,” he added. “I work with some great people at Lebanon Block, and am proud to be part of the team responsible for our growth over the last decade. My main duties include sales, purchasing and resolving any issues that arise. Common sense usually wins out in any situation.”

If elected, the infrastructure of the town’s water plant and retaining officers in the local police department will be among Boyd’s top priorities, he said.

“As I have spoken to a lot of our residents, two main issues have consistently been raised,” he said. “I have heard numerous comments about the infrastructure surrounding our water plant. I think our water plant is one of the best in the state, but the facility probably needs some structural upgrades.”

He went on to say, “Also, I have been told that although our police department is probably in the best shape it has been in years, residents would like to see more retention in the department.”

Boyd offered praise for the local farmer’s market.

“Our local farmers market is fantastic,” he said. “I have really grown to appreciate the products and the people there.”

Boyd went on to state that listening to the concerns of the residents of Lebanon is key to the town’s growth.

“I think open conversation is a great thing,” he explained. “I am always open to new ideas and comments. Feel free to stop by my office anytime. I have heard a lot of talk about transparency, but I feel in a small town it’s kind of hard to hide very much. Rather than talk about people, why not talk to people? As I stated, common-sense conversation achieves more than bickering.”

In regard to economic development, Boyd said, “The economy during these times will dictate whether or not any economic development can happen in our town. There is no magic button to push to bring more jobs and/or businesses to Lebanon.

I’m confident that our current council along with the IDA, is working to develop business plans. I look forward to learning and being part of this development.”

Boyd added, “Our town is a beautiful place. I have vendors come into the store and comment on how much they love this area. They love the landscape and the people that they interact with.  In closing, I appreciate all of the positive comments that have come our way, and I would appreciate your vote!”
