Love it or hate it, there is no denying that the 1980s gave us some of the most iconic films and music in history.
Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers gave us nightmares. We rocked out to big haired musicians who taught us how to have nothing but a good time.
This Saturday, Halloween night, Russell County will be celebrating the decade with the most spooktacular event on the calendar – the annual Haunting on Main. This year’s theme is Rock of Horrors – A Totally 80s Halloween.
The event is hosted by the Russell County Chamber of Commerce.
Trick-or-treaters from across the region will make their way to Main Street in Lebanon for costume contests, plenty of fun, and, of course, plenty of candy.
Businesses and organizations will have displays set up to welcome the various ghosts and goblins haunting Main Street.
Members of the public will vote for their favorite booth and the winner will keep the coveted Haunting on Main trophy until next year.
In previous years, winners of the various costume contests received trophies. This year, in an effort to boost the local economy, winners will receive gift cards to area businesses.
Chamber president Sharon Vandyke recently told the Lebanon Town Council, “We will give gift cards instead of trophies to put money back into the community.”
A Haunting on Main will get underway at 5:30 p.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m.
