Monday (6/1)

Honaker 11, Rye Cove 1 (Softball)

For the first time since 2013, Honaker is going to the state baseball playoffs. The Hogoheegee District tournament champions disposed of Rye Cove 11-1 in six innings in the Region 1D softball tournament to advance to the finals against the reigning state champion Eastside.

Sophie Campbell powered the offense with a two-run triple and a three-run double. Lincoln Bush, Kylee Miller, and Jailey Yates had two hits each for Honaker, who finished with 10 hits. Gracie Shelton had an outstanding day in the circle, only allowing one hit, a blooper by Gracen Chavez.

Madison Early scored the War Eagles’ only run on a wild pitch.

Tuesday (6/2)

Lee High 4, Lebanon 2 (Softball)

The Pioneers tried to give them an exciting finish. But Lebanon’s season ended in the Region 2D semifinals. The Pioneers trailed Lee 4-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Pioneers had a two-out rally to make it interesting.

Chloe Couch ripped a two-run double in the seventh. A flyout for the final out ended the game as Lebanon was handed a 4-2 setback.

Senior Chloe Bledsoe led the Generals, going 3-for-4 at the plate, including a solo home run, and two RBIs.
