The Lebanon Fire Department has been awarded an Insurance Services Office Public Protection Classification of Class 3. This classification places the department among the nation’s top-performing fire protection agencies.
The rating reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to excellence in emergency response, firefighter training, public safety education, communications, and community risk reduction.
“Achieving an ISO Class 3 rating is a testament to the professionalism, hard work, and dedication of our firefighters and staff,” stated Lebanon Fire Department Chief John Michael McCoy. “This accomplishment demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest level of service and protection to the community we proudly serve.”
ISO evaluates fire departments nationwide on a scale from 1 to 10, with Class 1 representing the highest level of fire protection. Achieving a Class 3 rating demonstrates that Lebanon Fire Department meets rigorous national standards for emergency communications, staffing, equipment, water supply, training, and operational readiness. Communities with Class 3 ratings are recognized for providing a high level of fire protection service and emergency response capability.
This accomplishment is the result of years of dedication by Lebanon firefighters, officers, Lebanon Town Council, and community partners. Investments in personnel, apparatus, facilities, training programs, and emergency communications have strengthened the department’s ability to protect lives and property while improving response effectiveness throughout the community.
In addition to recognizing the department’s operational excellence, an improved ISO rating may provide financial benefits to residents and business owners. Many insurance providers use ISO classifications as one factor when determining property insurance premiums. While savings vary by carrier and policy, property owners are encouraged to contact their insurance providers to determine whether the new Class 3 rating may positively impact their rates.
The ISO Class 3 designation serves as both a milestone and a benchmark for continued improvement. Lebanon Fire Department remains committed to enhancing public safety through advanced training, strategic planning, community outreach, and investment in modern firefighting resources. This recognition reflects the department’s mission to provide exceptional service and its dedication to protecting the citizens, businesses, and visitors of the Lebanon community.
