Russell County Public Schools and the Virginia Department of Education are asking parents of special needs students to complete a survey.
Each school year, the Virginia Department of Education is required to report to the United States Department of Education the percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.
All families of children who receive special education services through Individualized Education Programs in Virginia’s public schools are asked to complete this short survey.
The VDOE will use the results of the survey to improve parental involvement in the special education process and improve outcomes for all students within the Commonwealth.
Responses will be recorded anonymously and cannot be personally linked to a student.
Parents with more than one child receiving special education services through IEPs in Virginia’s public schools should submit one survey for each child.
Please note that a different browser (Safari, Google, etc.) or another electronic device (laptop, cell phone, iPad, etc.) will be needed for surveys for multiple children. The survey will be open until Dec. 11, 2026. A link to the survey can be found on the Facebook page of Russell County Public Schools.
