Tuesday (9/15)
Southern Gap 3, Honaker 1 (Volleyball)
Leah Rasnake led Southern Gap with 20 kills, 11 digs, and 3 aces in their four-set non-district win.
The team displayed a balanced attack, with key contributions from Bela Hurley (15 assists), Lucy Savage (7 kills, 3 aces), Madison Lester (7 kills, 4 digs, 4 aces), Adyson Bell (16 assists, 7 kills), Claire Griffey (25 digs), and Megan Hess (5 kills).
Thursday (9/17)
Lebanon 3, Southern Gap 0 (Volleyball)
The Lady Pioneers made the long trip to Grundy worthwhile. Lebanon remained undefeated, defeating Southern Gap 25-10, 25-21, 25-23 in the Southwest District.
Jaidyn Fields pounded 14 kills and dished out 12 assists to lead the Pioneers.
Sister Kenlie Fields (29 digs) and Olivia Gibson (17 digs) powered the back row. Carlee Ingram (14 assists, six kills) and Kaytie Lampkin (five kills, three aces, three blocks) were factors up front.
Twin Springs 3, Castlewood 0 (Volleyball)
Meadow McConnell recorded 20 kills, six digs, and four aces as Twin Springs secured a 25-17, 25-20, 25-15 Cumberland District victory over visiting Castlewood.
Bella Lawson totaled 32 assists. Adison Counts (23 digs) and Natalie Greer (four aces) were the Titans’ other top performers.
Layla Ervin (seven kills), Leanna Franklin (17 assists), and Cheyenne Elam (five kills) led the Blue Devils.
Friday (9/18)
Lebanon 40, Rural Retreat 21 (Football)
After opening the season with two losses, Lebanon (2-2) has now reeled off two wins. The Pioneers posted a 40-21 win over Rural Retreat at Community Stadium.
The Jessee brothers starred for Lebanon. Layne Jessee rushed for 193 yards with a touchdown. Will Jessee ran for a touchdown and completed 13-of-21 passes, throwing three TD strikes to Blair Clark and another to Braelin Hess.
Easton Taylor rushed for the other Pioneer TD.
Jake Rollyson totaled 138 rushing yards for the Indians.
Auburn 55, Castlewood 0 (Football)
It was another tough outing for the Blue Devils. Castlewood lost three fumbles and threw an interception as Auburn rolled to a 55-0 victory at B.C. White Stadium. The Blue Devils had 62 yards of total offense.
A.J. Tuono gained 73 yards on only eight carries for the Eagles. Ethan Brunk and Gavin Neuse each scored two touchdowns for Auburn.
Dalton Keith’s interception and Braxton King’s fumble recovery were standout plays for Castlewood.
