J.I. Burton 3, Castlewood 0 (Volleyball)
The Black Raiders rolled to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-18 sweep of Castlewood on Buddy Poole Court. Standouts for J.I. Burton included Tianna Gravely (nine kills), Juliana Adkins (24 assists), and Jordyn Frazier with eight digs.
Layla Ervin led Castlewood with four kills and two aces. Leanna Franklin added nine assists.
Holston 3, Honaker 0 (Volleyball)
Bailee Singleton recorded 18 digs and seven kills as the Cavaliers secured a 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 Hogoheegee District victory.
Haleigh Dutton (15 assists) and Lucy Howard (18 digs) also played well for Holston.
Thursday (9/24)
Lebanon 3, Graham 0 (Volleyball)
After a tough loss at Marion, the Lady Pioneers rebounded with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) victory over Graham in Charles C. Long Gymnasium. Jaidyn Fields continued her stellar play with 10 kills, 11 digs, and nine assists.
Raelynn Huff (seven kills), Carlee Ingram (16 assists, 10 digs, five aces), and Kenlie Fields (19 digs) contributed to Lebanon’s victory, improving their record to 9-4 and 4-1 in SWD play.
Chilhowie 3, Honaker 0 (Volleyball)
Rylee Hill (nine kills, two blocks), Raegan Jones (eight kills, seven digs), and Maddie Williams (eight kills, 15 digs) paced Chilhowie’s offense in a 25-11, 25-13, 27-25 Hogoheegee District victory over Honaker.
Abby Bogle’s 18 assists and Kenley Hill’s 17 assists, with three aces, played a key role in securing the win.
Honaker (1-11, 0-2 HOGO) suffered its fifth straight loss.
Friday (9/25)
Rye Cove 54, Castlewood 21 (Football)
The War Eagles remained undefeated, defeating Castlewood 54-21 at B.C. White Stadium.
Cole Barnette rushed for 109 yards on only nine carries, scoring four touchdowns, and added a TD on a 66-yard kickoff return. Rye Cove scored the first six TDs to take a 41-0 lead.
Gage Walden and Cole Williams scored on TD runs, while Aiden “Paco” Rose also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Castlewood scored two third-quarter touchdowns and another in the final period.
Senior Jacob Farmer produced almost all of the Blue Devil’s offense, rushing for 90 yards on 13 carries. He returned the second-half kickoff 80 yards for a score and later added a 68-yard touchdown run.
