The Town of Lebanon is announcing a change regarding the collection of delinquent personal property and real estate taxes.
According to a notice to town residents and property owners, such taxes will be considered delinquent after 90 days.
“Beginning November 1, 2026, the Town will begin utilizing a third-party tax collection agency to collect delinquent personal property and real estate taxes owed to the Town of Lebanon,” the notice stated.
“Once a delinquent account has been turned over for collection, payments on that account will need to be made directly to the third-party collection agency rather than to the Town of Lebanon,” the notice further stated. “In addition, accounts referred to collection are subject to collection costs of 20 percent of the outstanding balance.”
The notice was given in order to allow residents and property owners an opportunity to review their accounts and take the proper steps before their information is turned over to the collection agency.
The statement added, “We strongly encourage residents, business owners, and property owners who are unsure whether they have an outstanding balance to contact Town Hall prior to November 1. Our staff will be happy to check your account, answer questions, and assist you with making payments to the Town before the account is referred to collection.”
