September 25th was a cool fall morning. It found the door of the Drill Community Building open for another meeting of the Drill Senior Citizens. Someone put a pot of coffee on, and the potato peelers soon got busy getting potatoes ready for lunch.
Betty Sue called our meeting to order. She read the prayer requests and Gary Thomas opened our devotions with prayer, then Rev. Chester Ball read from his Bible Luke chapter 13 verses 23 and 28, and Matthew chapter 25, verse 14. Life is a striving way. Must serve the Lord to get into Heaven. If the Lord gives you a job to do you must do it. Have to ask forgiveness for our sins, must be born again to have a home in Heaven.
After devotions Betty Sue called the roll. We had 31 members present today and four visitors. Missed our members who were out today.
We then stood and made our Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. I then gave the financial report. We talked a little about our dump situation in Drill, such a mess. Hopefully our dump will stay open.
Our singers today were Janet Combs, Joyce Baldwin, Betty Lester, Betsy Newton, Greg Noe and Tommy Meade played his guitar and sang. They sang; “In The Sweet By and By”, “God’s Coloring Book”, “Every Day Is A Gift”, “Thank God For Another Day Of Life”, and “ Thank You Lord”. Betsy Newton then sang “Happy Birthday” to all our September birthday people. She then sang “As I Have Loved You”.
Our menu today was potluck. Betsy Newton asked the blessing over the food. The tables were full of good food. More than I can remember. As always, the dessert table was full of sweets to end the meal on a sweet note.
After lunch was over and clean up was complete, it was bingo time! Nancy Tiller gave out the bingo cards and Gary Thomas and Greg Noe brought in the bingo prizes. Betty Sue and Don had to leave early so they missed bingo today. I called the numbers today. Our winners who had their birthday on their card were Janet Combs and Linda Wilson. Winning one game each: Becky Ball, Nancy Tiller, Frank Dye, Shelia Hale, Kathy Noe, and Freda Sweeney. These people won two games each: Greg and Barbara Matney, Chester Ball, Joyce Baldwin, John and Janet Combs, Phyllis Miller, Brenda Jackson, and Jeanine Israel. Ron Jackson won three games and our big winner today with winning four games was Linda Wilson. Good thing we went shopping and stocked up on bingo prizes.
Our next meeting is scheduled for October 9, beginning at 11 a.m. Everyone welcome!
Remember to pray for one another. When prayers go up, blessings come down!
